I hear that the Macallan Easter Elchies bottle 2013 is going on sale tomorrow at the Macallan Destillery.

Is anyone going to pick up bottles at the Distillery shop? I know I might ask a lot but would anyone be able to pick up a bottle for me? Embarassed
I know Christmas is a few weeks away but you never know... maybe there is Santa out there who could make that happen...
Cool
Cheers
Mike

The link from there Facebook page says no phone orders. I'm going to pop down a few hours before they open which is at 9.30am.

Usually this one is strictly one per customer but if they let me buy 2 I'll give you a shout. Is anyone else popping down? I think I'll be their about 5am or 6am but I suspect I'll be nowhere near the front of the queue tho!

See anyone who is there for a chat and a giggle! I'm driving from Elgin if anyone wants a lift!

There is a notice in the window of the shop that reads as follows (I've edited it slightly) -

We will be coming along the queue from 0830 with numbered tickets which will give you a place in the queue.

Sales from 10am due to alcohol laws, customers called in lots of 10. Limited to 1 per person, we have approx 170 bottles to sell today with the rest being sold on our 2nd release on Monday 9th December.

Sorry mike but no can do on an extra bottle.

Cost is £185 and I would estimate approx 100 people are here already. It's a 1996 single cask so a few years older than the last release! Just waiting for 10am so I can buy the thing and get to work!

The Macallan Easter Elchies annual releases are usually single sherry butt releases bottled at cask strength and if i recall correctly last years was 13 years old. I dont think it states a number of bottles in the release but i am sure they would have got perhaps at least 500 - 700 out a sherry butt after around 13 years. A good one to get hold of for whisky drinkers, collectors and investors.

I was told today there are only 390 bottles this year. With 170 sold today and the remaining 170 to be sold in the same format with tickets on a first come first serve basis at 0830 and sales at 1000 due to alcohol laws from the distillery on the 9th December. That leaves 50 which I guess must go to staff etc.

It's a 1996 single sherry cask bottled at 56.3% and 17 years old, so a few years older than last years release.

I have read on Facebook that there was quite the scandal at Macallan today. Apparently they only had 70 odd bottles available despite informing people there were 170.

Many extremely disappointed people who had waited for hours only to find there were 100 less bottles than advertised by Macallan themselves. If you weren't there by 5am apparently you didn't make the cut. So now the mystery where have the 100 or so missing bottles gone? I feel very lucky to have got 1 on the 1st release date but feel very sorry for people who travelled long distances and waited from 5.30am to be told they were not in the 1st 70!

This seems almost a ridiculous situation and i hope Macallan compansate whose who are out of pocket for their cock up.

I wouldn't say 70 - As far as I've seen and spoke to people there 2 figures - 37 and 53.
I was in front waiting since 1.30 to get my bottle but I'm sure it was much less than 70.

I sounds like the Macallan owe a lot of people a big apology, even compensation, i would have been extremely p***ed off if i had traveled to get a bottle. I wonder if the staff have taken a number of bottles for themselves because it doent make any sense that they would inform people that there were 170 bottles
