The dinner and tasting last night was great and some of you asked specific questions regarding batch numbers, etc. Here are the answers. The drams last night were:

The Kilkerran was the "Work in Progress 5, 2013, 9000 bottles which is sherry matured and 8 years old.

The Glendronach was the Cask Strength Batch 2, 55.2% abv, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

The Benromach was the 2004, Cask 246, 60.4% abv, 9 Year Old and only 258 bottles worldwide.

I posted my taste notes for these in the appropriate section of the Forum.

Alun, the Glendronach was absolutely outstanding and a lovely sherry drop. It was the hit of the event last night, unanimously among the members.

I enjoyed the Kilkerran to a lesser extent but it is an interesting dram with a very pleasant nose.

The Benromach is not for the faint of heart at 60.4% abv. It is an intense dram that does everything to your nose and taste buds at full tilt. Think of a 3D film coming right at you in full splendour and somewhat aggressively and then you have the thrust of this whisky expression. For a 9 year old it is really intense. You either will think it is heaven in a dram or that it is harder to stay on than an electric bull ride. I kind of liked it but unfortunately I think by the time this one was poured, my taste buds were "slightly fried" by earlier drams in combination with some of the spices in the later supper courses.

It was a great evening of drams, food, company and conversation and loads of laughing.
Very Happy
