I was at one of the LCBO outlets with a wider range of single malt scotch whisky offerings in Ontario today and picked up a bottle of Glenfiddich 15 Year Distiller's Edition 750ml at 51% abv. It's the first time I noticed this expression on sale here. I would be interested in Forum member's evaluation of this one.

I have gotten through a couple of bottles of this, a great dram, the extra strength makes all the difference.

I think it's great - it's not really talked about a lot but it's a perfect showcase of the Glenfiddich style at higher strength. I have a bottle of it on the go - I always get the impression that it's sort of Glenfiddich 'in the wild' - lots of apples and pears, subtle smoke, spices, and a richer finish than we find in 40% expressions of Glenfiddich, as would be expected.

It's not one I've tried, but I'll keep an eye open for it

It's worth trying, sometimes it comes up on offer at Tesco or Sainsbury's for under £40, which is great for a high strength Glenfiddich of this age. I would say this and the Solera are my favourites from Glenfiddich's core range, they obviously do a very good job with their 15 year-old expressions!
