I'm thinking about buying a couple of bottles of Port Ellen, but I haven't actually tasted that many different bottlings. The Whisky Exhange has quite a few around £80-£90, does anyone have a healthy tip for me?

If they have bottlings from 1979 and 1982 i would recommand these, but it also depending who the bottler is and what woodtype they used.David Laing,Gordon&MacPhail and Cadenhead have some good ones.

Thanks. They have a couple of 79'ers by Douglas Laing, is that what you meant? Or is there a David Laing as well?

Hi Boven
I have had a few Douglas Laing Port Ellen bottlings in the past and can highly recommend them from Douglas Laing. In fact i can say any bottling i have ever had from Douglas Laing has been special. I dont think you will go wrong with whatever ones you choose.

If you can stretch the extra mile - go for one of the distillery releases - 4th or 6th still seem decent value - but they are well over the £100 mark _________________ There's nothing better than a 16 year old on the tongue... |
