Auchentoshan has released another whisky in their superb series of vintage releases from the 1970's. This Auchentoshan 1975 38 Year Old is a limited edition of 500 bottles which will be exclusive to travel retail. Bottled at a cask strength of 45.6% ABV and matured in bourbon casks for the full 38 years. It has a price tag of £500
This is the 2nd batch from 1975 that Auchentoshan has released, the first batch was released back in 2011. I tasted the new 1975 last night and the 1st batch back in 2011, both are great expressions of Auchentoshan what stood out for me was that the extra couple of years the latest expression has spent maturing has given it more citrus fruitiness than the first batch.
