I find myself confused by conflicting 'facts' posted variously on the web and hope this forum will clarify things. I have a bottle of 12yo Glentromie. The bottle says it comes from The Speyside Distillery; The web for that distillery says they have issued a 12yo Glentromie. But the wiki on The Speyside Distillery says the place was only invented in 1962, while my bottle claims "established 1895". Various sites say that the Glentromie is (a) single malt (b) vatted (c) a blend. So, what is the whisky, which distillery did it actually come from, how long established is that distillery and (seeing many sites claim its basically out-of-print) what is it worth? _________________ Dane Brooke |

Hi Dane and welcome to the forum, there is no Glentromie distillery, but i agree Glentromie whisky is confusing, i know previously it was a blended malt which is a blend of single malts from different distilleries in Scotland but more recently it seems to contain a single malt which i have got to assume is from the Speyside distillery.
The Speyside distllery is pretty new as far as Scotch whisky distilleries go, i believe Speyside went into production in 1976 but it took over 20 years to get up and running.
One of the other members here may be able to shine a bit more light on it for you.
Cheers

| I believe Glentromie whisky has been bottled as both a blended/vatted malt and a single malt in the past by the Speyside distillery and i have never seen a good review for any version of the whisky, in fact i cant say i have experienced anything good to have come from the Speyside distillery who bottles or have previously bottled Speyside, Glentromie, Drumguish and Cu Dhub |
