LCBO has just announced the coming availability of P & M Blended Whisky.

"Leave it to the French to carve out their niche in the blended whisky category, and then trust the Corsicans to produce a spirit that they're proud to claim as their own. In this instance, two local companies - Pietra Brewery and Domaine Mavela, a producer of spirits - have teamed up to create Corsica's first whisky, which is aged in barrels previously used for wine. This creates an definitively complex and fruity spirit that delivers a wonderfully sustained finish. Looking for a departure from the traditions of the category? This speaks an entirely new language". (LCBO)

Sounds interesting. Do the LCBO ever have any bottles open to sample? This might be one to try before one buys. The marketing makes it sound nice but it could be a touch rough round the edges.

That's a good question Alun. The LCBO almost never offer free samples of single malts or any whiskies for that matter. Periodically through the year they have paid tastings for around $75. with up to 5 half-ounce pours. However, in another province of Canada, Quebec, the SAQ is the equivalent of the LCBO. The last time I was in Montreal visiting my mother and brother,my brother took me to an SAQ outlet and the mananger poured me 3 complimentary drams himself including some premium ones, not even expecting me to buy any. He simply wanted my opinion.
Very Happy
