The LCBO announces the "coming soon" of Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky from South Africa to Ontario shelves.
"A sensational South African release that contributes to whisky's growing worldwide appeal. Bain's prides itself on the purity of its process, drawing water from its mountain source and using only premium South African grains. Distilled and double matured in a succession of first-fill bourbon casks - the first for three years, the second for a further two years - the result is an exceptionally smooth spirit with toffee and vanilla aromas leading to lingering layers of spice and sweeter oak. The finish is smooth, warm and inviting" (LCBO). _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Murray, we have the Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky, a single grain whisky which has been available here in the UK for a few years now but i have never tried it, it seems to have picked up some decent reviews, just under £30 in the UK.
The only South African whisky i have tried is Three Ships from the James Sedgwick distillery which is the same distillery which produces Bain's single grain whisky. I have only had Three Ships at a whisky tasting event and i tasted it late on at the event so my palate may have been a little overwhelmed by then but i recall thinking it was like a rough Speyside whisky but in a good way but wasnt inspired enough to buy a bottle which i think is close to £50 for the Three Ships 10 year old in the UK. _________________ There's no bad whisky. | I have tried the Three Ships at a tasting event, it was OK, interesting to try but as you say William it didnt inspire me to pay around £50, if it had been around £30 i may have got a bottle and got to know it better. |
