Diageo have announced the release of a limited edition Brora 40 year old which is the oldest expression of Brora ever released and Diageos most expensive single malt whisky released to date at £6,995.
A single cask whisky limited to 160 bottles and incredibly bottled at a cask strength of 59.1% ABV even after 40 years in the cask. The Brora 40 will be available exclusively from World Duty Free UK specialist travel retail whisky shops World of Whiskies, it can be pre-ordered from the World of Whiskies website.

£6995, there is just no getting away from that being the headline to this bottling. Price to one side I'm sure it would be awesome but when you consider Brora 35 is circa £750 (I know it's not a single cask) it just looks ridiculous.
At that price surely speculators are not going to make a return so maybe there are 160 millionaires out there who are bored of the offerings from Macallan. |

Yes quite a step up in price from last years 2013 special release Brora 35 year old which was £750 and a superb whisky, there was almost 3000 bottles in last years release so significantly more than the 160 in this 40 year old release. It amazing how some casks do retain a high strength, the 2013 release was only 49.9%
The Brora 40 is way too rich for me at £6995 but i am sure there are 160 whisky drinkers around that have this type of money which they will happily spend on a single bottle, sadly i am not one of them. |
