As it's Saturday night I'm having quite a few drams and wondered if you drink your whisky in any particular order? Is there a particular order you should drink your whisky?

I'm fairly new to whisky and if I'm having a fair few I would start with some of my less expensive whiskies then usually finish off with something a bit peaty or smoky.

Tonight I'm having a few Glenlivet 12's followed by Glenfarclas 10's, Jura Origin, Balvenie Doublewood then finishing off with some Talisker.

Is there a particular order I should be drinking them?

Cheers Guys

If that was my line up I would poss swop the doublewood and the Jura, otherwise your order looks good, although I prefer not to mix my drams so I'd prob just stick to 2 maybe 3 at a push, and just enjoy what I have... However you go, just enjoy each one, but remember if you are drinking peaty/smokey ones and light ones put the peaty/smokey last otherwise you will taint the delicate flavours, enjoy your line up..

Cheer Sorren

They are certainly going down well tonight.

Yeah, I will maybe cut down on the amount of different drams the next time.

I'm still on a learning curve Smile

Glad your enjoying the drams, there is nothing wrong with having a good line up if that's your pleasure, many of the members on here like a line up, my pleasure is light floral and sherry bombs so I don't go with large line ups, I like to take my time and enjoy the nose then sip, tonight's line up for me is Auchentoshan 18, and Auchentoshan three wood, Top Malt it's all about the journey, so just do it your way and enjoy it ..

Best way to enjoy them is the way you want.

Personally like sorren I'd start with the lighter malts and move up through the sherries into the peaty smokey ones.

That way gives you a good balance and you don't ruin your delicate flavours with something too flavourful before it.

If I were having that line up I'd drop the Jura as I'm not a fan but other than that it looks good.

I'm one who quite likes a good line up still take my time with them to get the best out of them.

Sorren ive been meaning to ask you opinion on the toshan 18 I got a mini bottle for Xmas and wanted the opinion of an expert

Tonight i started with a Glenlivet 12 followed by a couple of pours of Tomintoul 21 and now i have a Lagavulin 1997 Distillers Edition side by side with a cold draught Guinness. I dont always have a Guinness along with my whisky but just took the notion for it tonight and it goes well with the peaty/sherried Lagavulin.

When I'm having a few from the same distillery I normally go from youngest to oldest, when it's a mixture it's normally from lowest to highest ABV, though not always as heavily peated or sherried whiskies are best at the end.

Albo... Expert ... Laughing where ? Who ? Me ?? Noooo just a fan lol, I posted my notes on the tasting page I think it's on page 2 now Crying or Very sad , I like it but it would be far better at 46%, typical toshan bourbon dram, lovely summer evening drink if you ask me, some good delicate flavours, nutty, and a little zesty, if you like auchentoshans style then you will like this, but like I said it could do with a little more kick, if you get chance to try the 1996 bottle your own you will know what I mean, that's one fine bourbon barrel, I think I'm on my 4th bottle, but me likes it.. Laughing Top Malt
