Diageo have launched "Diageo Learning for Life, Scotland", which is a new, landmark £5 million youth training & employment programme in Scotland. Its aim is to help equip young, unemployed people with the skills to succeed in some of Scotland's most vibrant sectors.

Good to see a big company giving something back to Scotland, i am sure this could transform some young peoples lifes.

I'm gonna be the grumpy cynic. They should be doing this already. Christ they make enough money and the government gives enough incentives to take on apprentices and so forth.

I do see your point WM, but they do take apprentices when required and are fully staffed throughout their visitor centres so this is in addition to that so good on them.

I too see your point WM, but the fact is they are actually doing it. I don't see many (any?) of the other big players doing it, so rather than having a go at them for doing somehting, lets be positive towards them in the hope that a) they do more and b) others follow.

My rant wasn't specifically aimed at Diageo. They were just the easy target as they have made this announcement. All organisations private and public should be forced to invest in our youth.

Again I'm not going to disagree with your sound and logical argument, but to have a go at the ones who are doing it, is counter productive.

Just withdraw your earlier statement and lets move on Wink
