Aberfeldy 12 is a Highland malt whisky and comprises the heart of the Dewar's White Label blend.
Nose: very heathery and floral intertwined with wisps of smoke. Malty, almost grainy, undertow. Light, honey note.
Palate: Honey sweet initially, orange zest. Viscous, creamy mouthfeel. Becomes a little hot as a cinnamon spice note develops.
Finish: Dries quickly, a spicy note persists though (cinnamon, coriander seed), along with that wisp of smoke.
A touch of water (at 40%, no more than a drop) seemed to encourage the smoke on the nose and palate. This whisky gets some poor reviews, the main complaint being that it is bland and uninteresting. However I reckon it has hidden depths. Yes it is fairly light and subtle but it is a malt in perfect balance. The interplay of sweet, dry, malty and smoky hints all adds up to delicate symphony; one perhaps all too easily missed. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I like this one too.
Very over looked primarily because its not one of those in yer face drams. For me it's one with a few delicate nuances. |

Olie, a well-done taste note. I haven't tried this expression before. Clearly worth taking a look at after reading your note.. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| Great notes, I agree it's an underrated dram. It may lack a bit of body and oomph at the finish (in fact I nominated as one whisky that would immediately become great if bottled at 46% in a thread from a few months ago) but there's a lot of depth and a great honeyed centre. |

| I have had a couple of 1 litre bottles of the Aberfeldy in the past from the airport, always good value for a very drinkable anytime dram. |
