Probably one of the worst kept secrets but the Mortlach 16 is to be no more, completely new range announced. One of my favourite drams I am well stocked up but anyone who hasn't tried it I would get a bottle before it disappears or starts to go for silly money. Crying or Very sad

Mortlach 16 is bottled in batches, usually two per year. When stocks are low there is perception of shortage, when batch is finally bottled it seems that everything is in order. I don't know how long Mortlach 16 will be in the regular production but most specialized merchants are not concerned about "low stock"? and they are adapting their business to these cycles.

No more are being bottled and the new range hits the shops beginning of next year. Not sure what current unsold stock is but notice two or three are sold out.

You are right - I just have noticed that F&F is discontinued.

The Singleton of Mortlach didnt materialised AFAIK but i think they did continue bottling a limited amount of Mortlach F & F for a while.

A nice drop, rich and meaty. Will check out the new line-up, hoping for the best, fearing the worst!

Edit:

...and there it is!

John i was never sure if Diageo kept on bottling a limited amount of the Mortlach 16 Flora & Fauna since it was revealed back in 2007 that it was going the same way as the rest of the F & F range or if they had a surplus already bottled or perhaps some casks set aside to bottle under the F & F label to keep the brand going until now. It was certainly one of the more popular Flora & Fauna bottlings.

Mortlach is certainly a contributor to the Diageo blends but the demand for it may not be as big now Diageo have the huge Roseisle distillery and their recent completion of two distillery expansions in Speyside at Linkwood and Mannochmore which is part of their ongoing £1billion investment programme to expand Scotch whisky production capacity in Scotland.

Linkwood recently saw a £5 million investment which created a new building to house six new washbacks and two new copper stills, adding around 50% to Linkwoods annual production capacity.

Mannochmore recently had £9 million invested in it to build a new stillhouse, 8 new washbacks, a new mashtun and two new copper stills, doubling Mannochmores annual production capacity.

Mortlach is scheduled to be next for expansion.

The new Mortlach single malt whisky range as it says above is set to be released from mid 2014 but only in selected markets which are yet to be revealed. There will be 4 expressions - Morlach Rare Old, Morlach 18 year old, Morlach 25 year old and a Mortlach Special Strength which will be exclusive to travel retail. Details such as which markets the new Mortlach range will be available in and prices should be released early next year.

An acquaintance I know who works at Mortlach has confirmed that this will no longer be available. I hope that my order is fulfilled, as it is selling out everywhere Sad

There's a GORDON & MACPHAIL 21 YEARS OLD MORTLACH SINGLE MALT SCOTCH available at LCBO for $157.00 or 85 pounds equivalent. Anyone try this expression?

Is that the one that uses bourbon barrels? Loch Fyne Whisky had it as their bottling of the year.

Just rereading the press release, 50cl bottles!
