Distilled 18-1-2001, bourbon cask 49, bottled as a 12yo, This is yet another one of the superb bottle your own from Auchentoshan,
Nose, At first you could be forgiven thinking it is a simple nose but given a few minutes it opens up into something good, lots of vanilla, some cinnamon, ginger, citrus peel, and some oak in the background and a faint floral whiff lurking in there too.
Taste, Although not overly old it has a maturity to it, vanilla is the first sweet thing to slap your cheeks, followed by toffee apples and cinder toffee, honey then the Spices come through, ginger and cinnamon, followed by a peppery taste, a little oak says hello towards the end,
Finish, I found the finish to be sweet and a little dry but very nice..
once again a fine cask has been selected, I like the way each cask Auchentoshan has selected has brought something very different to the table, each one has shown typical Auchentoshan notes but also been unique in every way... well done |
