Bourbon cask 2052, distilled 24-08-1999 bottled 1-10-13,

Another fantastic single barrel from Auchentoshan,

Nose .... Its like a candy shop, sweet vanillas, spicy fruits, nutty and a hint of dark chocolate there too, fresh apples, orange and lemon peel, it takes you to a summer evening, freshly mown grass, the sun just sinking away, the scents of blossom in the air, hmmmm smoothing..

Taste, the sweet vanilla hits you first, it coats your mouth like an exploding bomb, then there is that spicy/pepper taste, not too strong just enough to say hi, cooking apples with cinnamon, just like your granny used to put into an apple pie.

Finish, again not overly long but its ok, it just makes you want to dive back in for another ride..

How much is it to bottle your own at Auchentoshan? And do you have a preference between this and the 1996?

The 1996 = £100 - 70cl...20cl = £30
The 1999 = £65 - 70cl...20cl = £20
New - 2001 cask £65- 70cl... 20cl = £20
I would have to say they are so different but very much Auchentoshan style, I have bottled 3x 1996 and 2x1999 and would bottle both many more times given the chance, although I would say I prefer the 1996, the 1999 is now gone and has been replaced by a 2001 bourbon cask which is also very good indeed, I managed to get bottle no1 from this cask Very Happy .. the 1996 somehow feels a little more special, but the 1999 is possibly a drink more often cask, if you know what I mean...
