Its that time of year again I am 22 years old now and trying to find a new Islay I have never tried before.

I have had
Lagavulin 16
Laphroaig Triple Wood
Ardbeg 10
Ardbeg Corrvreycken
Bruichladdich 10

Isle Malts
Ledaig 10
Talisker Distillers Edition 2012 bottling

Any recommendations are open here, I just have the habit to look at everything online while I am waiting for my shift to end. And I hate making choices, malts from the same distillery are fine just a new expression would be nice.

If you like some sherry with your peat then the Ardbeg Uigeadail is brilliant.

I second the Ardbeg Uigeadail of course, it's a fantastic whisky. Looking at your non-Islay malts, I would definitely suggest the Talisker 57 Degrees North. It's at the same price range as the Ardbeg and it certainly packs a punch - definitely my pick from the Talisker core range.

What did you make of the Talisker Distillers Edition by the way?

How about the Ardbeg 1976 Cask 2391 Manager's Choice perfect to mark your 22nd birthday, the only problem is it is £3,999

http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-93.aspx

Talisker 57 North is superb and a great choice if you havent tried it.

If i had the money i would. The talisker 57 north is good I am sure but is it 143 dollars good, it can be hard to find these releases in the states.

Can you get hold of Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength where you are? A very reasonably priced whisky for the money, one of the best at any price in fact.

A Port Charlotte or a Caol Ila might be good alternatives if you're looking for something different. Longrow is also a whisky with a good dose of peat though, for shame, they did away with the CV expression.

Away from Islay and the islands there are a few peaty whiskies, for example have you tried anything from Benriach. The Benriach "Birnie Moss Intensely Peated" is a young heavily peated whisky and is usually around £30 or also around the same price is the Benriach Curiositas 10 year old which has a nice touch of peat. Benriach is a great distillery to have a liking for as it offers a great range of various different cask matured whiskies and most at everyday drinkable prices.

It's not as peaty as you'd like, but I'd say a Bunna 18 is a screaming omission from your list; just to get a feeler of something a bit different.

Otherwise, if peat is what you want and within a reasonable price range, Caol Ila 18 / cask strength should do the trick.

Beware with these extreme peaty whiskies though together with the Laphroaig cask strength is that you may blow your load to early, insomuch that once you go here, where do you go after?

Octomore releases will give you a peat kick.

Ardbeg Ugi for sure

Lagavulin 12yo

Laphroaig 10CS

I see what the WM is saying but if you want peat go all out, you may find your taste buds change the more you drink and in time you'll want to explore away from Islay. Plenty in the whisky world to turn to

If it is big in your face peat you are after then Octomore from the Bruichladdich distillery will certainly give you that, the 6.1 edition is peated to 167ppm.

Any of the Lagavulin 12 year old special releases are worth a go and the Ardbeg Uigeadail is outtstanding.

I am going to look at Bunnahbhain 18, Benriach 17 or Octomore if i really want something that will knock me out. I see what you are saying about needing to balance out what i have. Also I forgot to mention I have Bunna 12 and i love it more than the peaty whiskies i have, it reminds me of pecan pie (which i can't eat it makes my mouth numb).

I could get a 23 year old Bladnoch for 119.99 USD as well or a Islay.

I second the Laphroaig 10 CS.

I had a few bottles of the 55.7% before they started numbering the batches, and they were phenomenal. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a young cask strength Laphroaig.

In your face medicinal, tarry, briny Laphroaig notes in the purest form.
