All,
I don't mean to sound like I'm promoting stuff but also had this passed to me today as well. 360 sets only costing just over 90 Euros with delivery,

Now this one has to be a decent collectable for a fan of Glenfarclas such as myself! Who knows but got a set as love the packaging and the collector in me always looks out for something different.
Regards,
Rob |

| I collected whisky miniatures some years ago, these do look good, make sure there is a good seal on the bottles as i lost a lot of whisky from my miniatures due to evaporation. |

That look interesting too! Pay day next week, if they still have some I'll think I'll treat myself! Interested in what a 6/7 year old Glenfarclas tastes like tho so might be tempted to have the miniature and keep the bottle or just get 2! |

Nearly all minis evaporate due the lesser quality bottles and caps used. Many years ago collectors used to use clear nail varnish to seal the caps. After 20 years my bottles are as full as the day the left the bottling plant....but there is a downside to this, I bought some minis off ebay recently that hadn't been sealed so I sealed them to prevent further evaporation. I then found ones which were perfect so I sent the others to Scotch Whisky Auctions in Glasgow where they rejected them and said it was super glue (not sure if they were accusing me of something....) I have, in the past bought minis from them that were sealed with nail varnish but they said too many people were returning the minis when they realised they had been sealed with varnish. They mentioned in the listing that the bottle was lacquer sealed so if the buyer didn't read this, then it's the buyers problem, not the auctions.
So what do you do? You can seal them and have perfect bottles, but if you ever want to sell them then it might be a tad difficult. I know one thing for sure, I'm not putting varnish anywhere near my Macallan Fine & Rare. :O |

Try using Parafilm 'M' Laboratory Film to seal your bottles, it should be removeable without doing any damage if done carefully, you will find it available from www.whisky-online.com/?ref=45 _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

It doesn't work mate, it's only a short term solution. I've a few friends who work in labs and use it and they say it's only ever used as a short term measure as varying temperatures and light degrades it. |

| Would using sellotape stop evaporation from happening ?, I'm sure their is a good reason why it's not used ?. |

Again, I think it degrades and becomes brittle over time. |

Also use it on full bottles i am storing long term, difficult to say whether there would have been any evapouration without out it but certainly none using it. I have also had success with self amalgamating tape. |
