Chivas Brothers has announced the release of two new small batch, single malt whiskies from its Tormore distillery in Speyside and the two new whiskies will replace the Tormore 12 year old which has been discontinued.
They have launched a Tormore 14 Year Old and Tormore 16 Year Old, both of the new expressions are produced in limited quantities, each bottle will carry a batch number, the Tormore 14 year old is bottled at 43% ABV and the Tormore 16 year old is non-chillfiltered and bottled at 48% ABV.
The Tormore 14 is already available from The Whisky Exchange

| I'm off to Tormore on Friday morning during Spirit of Speyside festival. I believe we get to try the 14 and 16 after the managers tour so looking forwards to it even more now! |

They did say they would try to source me a couple of samples but i havent received them yet and i thought i would go ahead and mention them as the 14 year old has now appeared on shelves in the specialist whisky shops and i would think the 16 wont be far behind it.
Enjoy your visit to Tormore on Friday and let us know what you think of the 2 new expressions. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

William i agree with your comment on the Tormore 12, "underwhelming over caramelled", then i could usually be found pretty cheap so there wasnt too much to complain against. Hopefully the new 14 and 16 will be worth a try and as you say William good to see Chivas sticking to their belief that "Age Matters".
Rob, do update us on what you think of the Tormore 14 and 16, i would think the extra 2 years over the 14 and the bottling strength of 48% for the 16 will make it stand out if they have both had the same maturation. |

| I have had the Tormore 12, it wasnt offensive but it also wasnt very memorable. Before the 12 there was a 10 year old which wasnt much to talk about either. Hopefully they have produced something interesting with the new 14 and 16 year old. Good to see a age statement on the new whiskies instead of some daft name thought up by a marketing department. |

| The look of the new Tormore 14 and 16 are certainly a huge improvement on the 12 year old. |

| Both bottles look like they have similar dark tans even though there is 2 years difference and no mention of a sherry cask. Still be interested to hear what they are like. |

| I was about to ask - any word on whether caramel is added? I've never tried Tormore before but they would be tempting if all natural. |

Had the 14 and 16 today. I really enjoyed both but for me the 14 was the better dram.
the 14 had a really lovely nose with lots of fruit, really nice sweets and I got sweet oranges on the palate and quite a fruity finish too with apples almost on the finish.
Both products seem to be very good quality with obvious thought having gone into the cask selection and I would go as far to say that I will probably get a bottle of the 14 based on todays tasting. |
