In Whisky Bible 2015, Jim scored awarded a massive 97.5/100 (the equal highest score ever awarded to any whisky) to a 'newly tasted' Gordon & Macphail Linkwood.

So, what's the story of this mystery Linkwood, I hear you cry.

Well, it was a single cask bottling in October 2013 of a Linkwood distilled on 8/12/1988.. The whisky came from Cask No. 5018, which yielded just 229 bottles at 55.3%.

The expression (in rather fetching white livery and packaging) was produced for the Soho Whisky Club, which is above The Vintage House in Soho.

As at yesterday afternoon, the Vintage House still had bottles for sale at Â£124.95.

So, if you fancy a bottle, its is probably worth giving them a call.

I had an interesting Cooper's Choice Linkwood 17 Year, 46%abv back in Feb. and it was excellent. It was my first experience with this distillery. It was a single sherry cask, 450 bottles. A lot of exotic fruit on nose with strawberry mousse and mocha on the finish.

I am sure stock will be sold out very quickly when word gets out. I have always enjoyed Linkwood, a fresh clean fruity easy to drink malt. Reading Jims note on it, it sounds like it has be a particularly good refill sherry cask which the G&M Linkwood has been matured in.
