I noticed that TWE had this to there new whiskies list the other day, a 1 litre bottle of Laphroaig for £57 isnt over the top if it is a good one, i wouldnt mind hearing opinions on it also.

I tasted it at at the airport and wasnt inspired to buy, i thought it was a watered down mild Lahproaig, still good but the Quarter Cask is way better and cheaper.

I haven't tried it but I'm not really inspired to be honest - £57 for a NAS Laphroaig at only 40% ABV? If it was higher strength like the Quarter Cask it would be a different story.

The QA Cask had neither the strength or the peat level of the Quarter Cask and for me that is what makes Laphroaig good, unfortunately the Laphroaig Quarter Cask 1 litre bottle has disappeared from airport shop shelves, it seems it has been replaced by the QA cask which is a poor subsitute IMO and not worth a higher price than the Quarter Cask. The QA Cask is a decent whisky with lighter cleaner peat (if that makes sense) and a good bit of vanilla but overpriced for what is probably around an 8 year old whisky.
