I presented my impressions of this dram probably a year or so ago but I had such a pleasant experience with this dram today that I offer my taste notes from this afternoon and the exemplary state of my taste buds. Some days one's palate is in better shape than others.
Neat-
Nose: Hazel nut, spiced orange treacle sponge pudding, orange rind, intense rum and raisin ice cream and butterscotch gelato with deep sherry notes and frangelo hazelnut liqueur reminiscences.
Palate: Warming, sherry bursts, an oak forest, mouth-filling and spicy.
Finish: Long, layers of pleasant spice, plum pudding, dark Christmas fruit cake and a nutty melange.
With a few drops of water-
The expression opens with enhanced spicy orange rind and caramel macchiato on the nose, high cocoa content dark chocolate on the palate and more spice notes on the finish including waves of ginger. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
