Hi, I was up in Orkney last week for the first time, what a great place.
We visited Highland Park and did the Magnus Eunson Tour, which is not cheap at £75 but well worth it. Also included in the price, is book, tasting glass and a certificate.
We got a tour with the Manager and we were given 7 drams ( all good measures), 12yr, 15yr, 18yr, 21yr, 25yr, 30yr and a rather special 46 year old dram, straight from the cask that is not released yet. I reckon this was going to be released as a 50 year but they could not confirm this.
Having only tried the 12 year before this visit I was not sure what to expect, but I loved the 25 year so much that I bought a bottle.
My only moan about the visit was the bottle prices in the Distillery shop, I managed to buy the 25 £80 cheaper at a Historic Scotland site on Orkney! _________________ You can't push anyone up the ladder unless he is ready to climb himself. |

| I have never been up to Orkney, i will get there one day. Sounds like it was a great tour. I rarely buy anything from distillery shops as it is almost certainly going to be cheaper elsewhere, i always think the distillery shop prices are for overseas tourists who are none the wiser. I agree the Highland Park 25 is superb. |

Certainly sounds like a great tour and you had some lovely drams.
You would assume the distillery would be the cheapest place to purchase a bottle but as Mark says it's perhaps priced for overseas tourists.
I purchased a bottle of HP18 online for £20 less that the HP website.
£80 saving over their price for HP25 is great

Hi STUDOGG37. Sounds a really worthwhile trip and tour. The 46 year old sounds like "my cup of tea". If I lived across the pond I could definitely see myself checking out that the place. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
