| My local scotch guru told me that the Tobermory 15 that I love is most likely a true limited edition that will run out in 6 months to 2 years. For those of you who are familiar with this gem, will you please recommend a more regular replacement or some candidates I can try? I really want to find something as close as possible that will be available when the Tobermory runs out. |

| I was under the impression that the Tobermory 15 was limited in that they only produce a limited amount each year but I thought it was still part of the Tobermory core range. You could try contacting the Tobermory visitor centre phone: +44 (0)168 830 2647 i am sure they will be able to confirm whether the 15 year old will be around or not. |

| If I recall correctly, he indicated that there was previously a Tobermory 15 that was nothing like this one, and that the new owner put this one together from some old stock he found in inventory. I think the expectation is that, since the distillery was not well cared for by the previous owners, there will be a limited amount of quality scotch produced from this old stock, and it will take some time, perhaps decades, before we see its like again. |

I'm not sure if there was a previous incarnation of an official 15 year-old Tobermory, but the current one has been around since 2008-09 I believe, which was the time Tobermory upped the strength of its offerings to 46.3% and started bottling without colouring and chill-filtration. In other words, like Brummie I would expect the 'Limited Edition' on the bottle to refer to small-ish batches per year. Since it's been around for 5-6 years I don't think it counts as an actual limited edition anyway - it may be that the whisky has changed compared to what it was five years ago but that can be true of practically any distillery's output.
Either way it doesn't hurt to contact them to make sure, as Brummie suggested! |

There was a Tobermory 15 limited edition 46.3% NCF bottling which was badly sulphur tainted and very poorly rated because of it but some people do like sulphured whiskies. There is a Tobermory 15 year old 46.3% NCF core range bottling which is a quality sherried whisky although not cheap for a 15 year old at around £72 _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |
