Anyone know when this is due for release in the UK as part of the 1824 series and price range?

Thats is the "Macallan M" Mr C, a different bottle to the Macallan Rare Cask which does appear to be a US exclusive release at the moment. Not much details around for it yet, i suspect it hasnt yet been fully rolled out in the US.

What i can see from a quick search in google is the Macallan Rare Cask is 100% matured in sherry oak casks, 43% ABV, natural colour, NAS and $300 a bottle, not sure if it will be launched in the UK.

It is referred to as the latest addition to the Macallan's 1824 Masters Series, which to me is a different series to The Macallan 1824 Series which was launched here in the UK last year and is made up of the Macallan Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby. Then there is the Macallan 1824 Collection exclusive to travel retail.

Just had a look on the Macallan website and they are listing a few bottles under their Macallan 1824 Series along side the Macallan Gold , Amber, Sienna and Ruby, all no age statement and all coming in above the Macallan Ruby. There is the Macallan Rare Cask, the Macallan Reflexion, the Macallan No. 6 and the Macallan M at the top of the series. No sign of prices though.

Age statement does seem to be a thing of the past even when you move up the range.

The Macallan Rare Cask is part of the new Macallan 1824 Masters Series which sits above The Macallan 1824 Series. The 1824 Masters Series is made up of 3 new Macallan whiskies, The Macallan Rare Cask, Reflexion and No.6, they join the Macallan M which is at the top of the series.



The Macallan Rare Cask is made with an high proportion of first fill sherry seasoned oak casks.

The Macallan Reflexion was matured in selected hogshead casks.

The Macallan No.6 was matured using only first fill Spanish sherry seasoned oak casks.

The Macallan Reflexion and No.6 will be available worldwide, whilst Rare Cask will initially be available exclusively in the US from specialist whisky retailers and selected bars.

By the looks of the Macallan Reflexion and No.6 bottles they will be way out of my everyday drinking price range but i am sure they will be good. I wonder if the days are now numbered for the remaining Macallan age statement whiskies such as the 12 and 18 year old.

I will certainly give The Macallan Rare Cask a go but will have wait and see how much they will want for the Reflexion and No.6

I live in Boston USA and picked up a bottle today

Paid $280 US. I was told the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island got six cases combined. the owner of the shop I picked it up from was at a release event in Newport Rhode Island over the weekend and said they tasted the entire Macallan range including all the standard age statement US releases and finishing with the rare cask. I can tell you the bottle is gorgeous in person.

Yeah I want a bottle of the rare cask I just worry they will get snapped up in the UK then appear on the usual auction sites at double and treble the price.

As for the discontinued age statements I've bought a fair few for drinking especially the 18 yr old sherry ones the wife however does not approve

Wharfdale as William says in his post the Macallan Rare Cask will initially be available exclusively in the US so you should be able to get hold of it at the recommended price on your side of the water as it sounds like it is part of the core range and not a limited release.

I like the sound od the Macallan No.6 matured in first fill Spanish sherry casks but it may me out of my drinking budget, i will certainly give the Macallan Rare Cask a go if it picks up good reviews.
