Hi all,
My first post here.
I'm hoping to purchase a bottle of Crawford's Five Star blended Scotch Whisky. I've been keeping an eye out on mctear's and whiskyauction for bottles coming up and I'm sure I should be able to get one for around £60-£70.
I know there is one for sale at the moment on whisky-online.com at the moment but £95 is just too much for a blend that tends to go for £50 max at auction. Unfortunately due to credit card problems I just missed out on a bottle from whisky auction at 38 euros and I would desperately like to purchase one as soon as possible. (It's get well present for a relative who thinks, rightly or wrongly, that it's the best blended he's ever tasted!)
If anyone has an unopened bottle in good condition please could you post here and I'll reply as soon as possible?
Many thanks,
Dan. |

Hi Dan and welcome to the forum
As you probably know Crawfords 5 Star was discontinued but they do still produce the Crawfords 3 Star but even that can be pretty hard to come by but you will find the 3 Star available in a few online whisky shops.
If i come across a bottle of 5 Star anywhere i will keep you in mind and post here. Meanwhile if you cannot find a bottle of Crawfords 5 Star anywhere i know that Benrinnes single malt was a long time component in the blend and may be a good alternative.
Anyway hope you find a bottle sorry i cant be of more help.

Many thanks for your reply Charlie. The info you've provided about Benrinnes is invaluable as I had no idea of the constituent parts of Crawford's 5 Star.
I'm going to be cheeky and call whisky-online today and see if they will negotiate on the price of the bottle on their website. Worst that can happen is they say no
Will post and let you know how it goes.
Cheers,
Dan. |

Hehe. Sorted!
The guy I spoke to was actually really genuine but the lowest he could come down to was £85. I've decided to go for it as the timing is right and split with my brother it figures out to be £42.50 each. |
