As you will all probably be aware, Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2015 is about to hit the shelves. You have probally already heard that Jim has named The Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry 2013 as his 2015 World Whisky of the Year.
I thought you would also be interested in the rest of Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2015 award winning whiskies. You will find a list of this years award wing whiskies here:
http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/whiskybible2015.htm
If you are looking to buy a copy you can order a copy from Amazon
You will also find all of the Whisky Bible 2015 award winning whiskies which are still available to buy over at The Whisky Exchange website HERE _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| Good to hear that the Redbreast 21 year old is named Irish whiskey of the year, it really is a cracking whiskey. |

Not sure how he picks some of he winners as they are clearly from previous years tastings so shouldn't qualify for an award this year, such as Ealanta. How can that get an award when it was last year's release and won whisky of the year? It also got 97.5 points last year which puts it joint first with the Yamazaki. Think he's finally lost it.
The only reason I buy the bibles these days is to have a laugh at the opinions section _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

| Wasnt this years 2nd and 3rd place William Larue Weller 2013 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Sazerac Rye 18 year old 2013 named last year as winners in their category also. I have no doubt they are all brilliant whiskies but the Whisky of the year title does seem out of place in these awards. It seems like the top award is for new whiskies only and the other awards are for all whiskies |

No, the bottlings from last year were 2012. They get bottled and released in Autumn of the year which is too late for the bible print run, and get submitted to the tastings in the following years bible, which then takes the year from the following year. So 2013 bottled into 2014's tastings for the 2015 bible that is released in 2014.....clear as mud.
The Saz 18 is also one of the greatest out there consistently, still got my 2013 bottle unopened..... _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

| Interesting that he highly rates the Glenturret 1986 Famous Grouse Commonwealth Games, quite tempted to buy a bottle now as it is still available at TWE for £150 |

I was in London yesterday and did my usual round of the whisky shops. Pretty much every time that the phone rang in any shop, it was someone tying to get a bottle of the Yamazaki.
This just because one man's opinion (no more, no less) is that it is the best that he happens to have tasted in the last few months.
I find this "lemming-like" approach totally and utterly bizarre. Year-after-year, one man's "award" overnight clear stores worldwide of whiskies that have often (albeit not always) had only moderate sales prior to the Bible's release - Glenmorangie Ealanta last year being one example.
Serge is bang on. There is no best whisky in the world. It is a phantasy. |

| Personally I find the Whisky Bible an invaluable guide, I don't go chasing the award winning whiskies but I find it a great guide to finding lesser known whiskies that tend not to be reviewed anywhere else. It has lead me to many reasonably priced whiskies over the years which I may otherwise have over looked. |
