Benromach today announced the launch of two new limited edition whiskies, the Benromach Hermitage Wood Finish and Benromach Chateau Cissac Wood Finish.

Hi William. Two interesting scotches with a France connection.

A little research yielded this about wine casks from the northern Rhone region of France:

"As with the northern Rhone in general, Crozes-Hermitage produces primarily red wines, with Syrah the only red grape permitted under appellation rules. The rules allow the addition of up to 15% white grapes, Marsanne and Roussanne. These two grape varieties are also used to make up the white wines that are made in the appellation. The more notable vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage include Les Chassis, Les Sept Chemins and Les Meysonniers".

Very Happy

They both should have a good bit of influence from the wine casks, with one having a 27 month finish and the other a 20 month finish

Cissac is a very decent old-style claret (firm and needs ageing but worth the wait) in good years - have got through a number of bottles over the years!

Back on topic - Benromach have a very big presence in France, in many more bars and shops that in London

Worth a try at £39.75 i think, Benromach has yet to disappoint me, quite the opposite.
