The Glenmorangie Dornoch is a charitable bottling to raise awareness for the conservation of the Dornoch Firth, Glenmorangie has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society to preserve this precious waterway and help raise money for the society. Matured in ex-bourbon American white oak then transferred to ex-Amontillado casks, it is a No Age Statement limited edition, i am not yet sure of the price, number of bottles or availability but i will make enquiries.
Glenmorangie Dornoch official tasting note:
Aroma: A classic Glenmorangie spirit matured in ex-bourbon American white oak then transferred to ex-Amontillado casks.
Taste: The swirling of under-current of peat adds an unexpected dimension of sweet smoky apples, complemented by vibrant sweet nutty flavours layered upon the rich , warm toffee and dried fruits.
Finish: After tasting you are left with added layers of distinctive floral notes, the softness of vanilla with hints of citrus. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

I received a reply from Glenmorangie with some more details on the Glenmorangie Dornoch.
As I already said the Glenmorangie Dornoch is a charitable bottling to raise awareness for the conservation of the Dornoch Firth, Glenmorangie has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society to preserve this precious waterway and help raise money for the society.
It will be exclusive to travel retail and will be available from World Duty Free Group's UK airport stores (World of Whiskies) from 26th November at an RRP of £59.99 and it will be available in European travel retail outlets from February 2015 at an RRP of £69.00.
Bottled at 43%, it is a union of a classic Glenmorangie spirit matured in ex-bourbon American white oak which has been united with a lightly peated Glenmorangie spirit that has been extra matured in ex-Amontillado sherry casks.
A donation from the sale of each bottle of Glenmorangie Dornoch will be made to the Marine Conservation Society.

I wonder how much is donated per bottle? Some of the amounts in the past for this kind of thing (Eg the Help for Heros Bells bottling) have been shockingly low. _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

From past experience whisky companies rarely disclose the amounts on this sort of thing so i have stopped asking. But I am sure the Marine Conservation Society will be happy with whatever contribution is made.
It should be an interesting bottle and i am sure it will be sought after, Glenmorangie limited releases have been very good in recent years, hopefully this is another good one. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

1 litre bottles are getting as rare as age statements in travel retail these days. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| I noticed that Jim Murray has scored the Glenmorangie Dornoch at 94 points in the Whisky Bible 2015 |
