Not tried the Aberfeldy but the Dalwhinnie is a cracking dram. It's one that I go back to time and again, you can put it in a tasting with whiskies twice it's price and few people would pick up on the price difference. Quality.
A nice malty hunnied dram but the puff of smoke keeps it interesting. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

The Dalwhinnie 15 is one of Diageo's classic malts for a good reason it is a outstanding Highland single malt and a must try on your whisky journey, a lovely smooth malt with a nice bit of heathery honey and a pleasant touch of smoke. Great value at this time of year. You will find it at Amazon for £27 and Free Delivery at the moment.
The Aberfeldy is quite a fruity highlander, still got a nice bit of heathery honey and a wee touch of spice. Easy to drink, enjoyable, a good buy if you find it on offer. Tesco have both the Aberfeldy and Dalwhinnie on offer at the moment. |

Hi John. The Dalwhinnie 15 always seems to float under the radar. I've never seen it offered at tastings though most people in the know really like it. I've never tried the Dalwhinnie 25 but I hear it is really excellent. I wonder if part of the problem here is that there are not that many expressions around from this distillery. Oh, the 15 year is almost double the sale price here that you mention in the UK. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

True you dont often see Dalwhinnie at whisky tastings as i think most whisky drinkers are familiar with it but it doesnt make it a lesser quality malt. To me it is the classic highland malt.
ralfy i dont think you will be disappointed with the Dalwhinnie of the Aberfeldy although i would say the Dalwhinnie is my choice as the better of the 2 but tastes vary. |

| Aberfeldy is ok as an entry dram, I always feel like it's lacking a little something, could poss be better at 46%, but dalwhinnie 15 is a lovely dram, full of delights, while your having a sip try it with malteasers, let one melt in your mouth then take a sip, mmmmm lovely ...hope you enjoy them both |

| I always pick ap a few bottles of Dalwhinnie 15 this time of year when it is on offer, a cracking dram. As others have said the Aberfeldy 12 is a nice enough easy to drink whisky, very much an entry level whisky as Sorren says, one of those distilleries which does improve with age, the Aberfeldy 21 is excellent. |

| I picked up the Dalwhinnie today as it goes. Can never fault it and often is under appreciated due to its relatively low price point. Will be had at Xmas.... |

I think the Aberfeldy 12 would be a great whisky at a higher strength. As it is, it's very pleasant and easy to drink, sweet, honeyed, fruity and light. At the same time it's not bland, it's certainly got character.
The Dalwhinnie 15 is richer and probably more complex, though for some reason if I had to choose between the two I would go for the Aberfeldy. They're both good malts though. |
