I see it has sold out again.

Ralfy i am sure there will be plenty queueing up to buy this and the other 3 whiskies in the Macallan 1824 Masters Series.

I wonder what the price on the Macallan No.6 will be and it is a pity that the Macallan Rare Cask is exclusive to the US as i wouldnt have minded giving it a try.

I have only had the Macallan Rare Cask and it is very good although i am not happy with this no age statement road the Macallan is now heading down and charging premium prices for. Glenfarclas is now my distillery of choice these days.

I'm with you Big Mac, Glenfarclas have so much in their favour. No fussy packaging which must add £100s to some bottles with hand blown crystal this or solid silver that (60yo aside), just decent whisky with an age statement at a good price.

yeah the Macallan Reflexion seems overpriced for a non-age statement but would love to sample it, then judge.

Regarding Glenfarclas, I was really disappointed with the 1966 fino cask, at around £800 a bottle, it was only one dram I tried but prefer the 30 year.

I have been drinking Glendronach more than anything else, Age & £££ they seem the best Top Malt

I dont mind paying for good whisky, and no matter what the marketing people try to sell us, age and therefore rarity of whisky due to cask evapouration is what qualifys a whisky for a premium price, when Macallan started hiding the age i new they were ripping me off and i have tasted more than a few of these no age statement whiskies and i know they are ripping me off, they are good but i have been a Macallan drinker for over 40 years and i have had some amazing aged Macallan and i am certain what they are punting now has a weak content of aged whisky.

As i said Glenfarclas is now my distillery of choice these days but i have a big collection of the Macallan which i have built up over the years, probably over 300 Macallan whiskies, i now drink the Macallan but rarely buy it other than the 12 & 18 year old which is a regular dram. Having said that i am drinking the superb no age statement Macallan Oscuro this evening, but i did open this over the holidays and i wouldnt like to see it go off Laughing

Bottle of this sold for £725 on whisky online auction

If the bottle cost £895 (still readily available at Whisky Exchange) and sold for £725, £72.50 commission and then VAT is 20% of commission = £14.50. This makes an overall loss of............£257.00 OUCH.

When a bottle is still available from a whisky shop I would not expect it to fetch the shop price or above at auction. If I wanted to pay the shop price i would go to the shop. The shop price would include the shop profit and 20% VAT which when the VAT is removed takes the price of the bottle iin TWE down from £895 to £745. AFAIK the Macallan Reflexion is part of a series with limited availability but will always be available until the Macallan end the series or have i got that wrong? Therefore these bottles wont make you a profit at auction until the series is ended.
