Firstly, this was on sale this morning on HP - Anyone get it?
Secondly, without sounding like a grumpy old git, £180 !!!!
Who is coming up with the prices these days for Whisky? Of course people are going to buy it, but just seems a ridiculous prices? |

Sold out just after 8am.
Think it will be on TWE and other whisky shops later this week though, be quick.
I expect every whisky auction in Scotland will have loads next month. |

I agree, quite a few new releases are not even hitting their original selling price at auction
A few examples
Macallan Reflexion retail £895 lowest auction £725 before costs and VAT
Springbank 25 retail from £360 - £395, one yesterday ended at auction £360 before any costs.
Balvenie Tun 1509 batch 1 retail around £249 only just hitting the retail or a little bit higher. before any auction deductions will result in a loss
Even Ardbeg Kildalton only available from the distillery at £125 is only going for just above this price.
I do hope buyers are not going to flip them as disappointment may be around the corner. Also just a small thing is that with it coming out today you are not going to get them in the 2 auctions starting this Friday or one starting next Wednesday therefore I predict in the next month around 15 - 20 or even more will be available so prices will need to be about £210 just to break even.
Just my 2 cents.. |

I got the info from Highland Park on the Highland Park Odin this morning but have been out all day, I will post it later. It is a noticeable jump in price but hopefully they have kept the best til last. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

I wont be getting a bottle of this, but just so you know it's listed as back in stock again on TWE for anyone who wants to blow £180 on a 16yo _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Yeah I passed on this as well. I'm sure 40% will be appearing on auction sites shortly on their own or as part of completed sets.
It's been one of the better series' overall, it'll be interesting to see what Highland Park do next. |

Sold out yesterday everywhere I do wonder how many bottles were made available yesterday when it was launched as i do find it hard to believe more than a handfull from eash whisky retailer, a marketing ploy perhaps to stir up interest in an unreviewed £180 16 year old whisky. It wouldnt at all surprise me. |

Critics seem to be getting cut out the loop these days. |

If HP had priced this at around say £100, would you have bought one........
I agree it does seem steep but reviews have so far said it is a nice dram.
If you do buy one, at least they give you a nice wooden bookend |
