My Nan has asked me to sell some of my grandads whisky as he's no longer with us. I know nothing about whisky but one of the bottles strikes me as being of high quality.

I'm hoping someone here will be able to advice on price and best place to sell. I'm also open to offers.

It's a Glenlivet silver jubilee reserve. 750ml 75% proof. Aged 25 years. Bottle number 56. It's never been out the box and is in mint condition. The writing on the box is a little worn. I've attached images:

I have Googled this bottle but would love to hear from some people who know what they are talking about rather than me just seeing various prices online. Any advice/help would be much appreciated.[img][/img][img][/img]

Hi,

Don't know much about the bottle myself, but its £1,200 on Whisky Exchange.

Has the bottle been kept up right on lying down on its side?

However, further search here -

this is allways the problem a shop has a mark up which you dont know as well as what he paid for the bottle
the whisky auction price goes both ways the buyer has to add comission and vat
the seller also loses some money so he wont get the full amount
its your choice there are plenty whisky auction sites
do a bit of research and check there fees

Mr C the bottle I would have thought has been lying on its side. I'm assuming it would have been better up right. That link to The Whisky Exchange shows it went for £460. But other sites prices seem higher. Do you recommend any auction houses/sites?
Thanks for he info.

the link is to the whisky auction not The Whisky Exchange which is a lot dearer as he has to pay vat staff and various other things
auctions are not allways the same you pays your money and takes your chance
