|
|
Hi all
I am a new member. I used to work in the alcohol industry and way back in 1995, I purchased a 31yo Macallan, distilled 1950 - bottled for Rinaldis in 1981, with red ribbon & seal and in a wooden presentation box. It is lot #293 as per the handwritten label and the spirit is very high on the shoulder, clear & clean and all in perfect condition.
I bought the bottle from a chap in Maine, USA in order to cover a special occasion one day, and that day is fast approaching, so I am looking to sell. I saw these reach almost £5,000 last year on an Italian site and they have been sitting at around £3,400 on The Whisky Exchange for some time, but seem to have dropped a little since the recession.
I look forward to hearing back from anyone interested in owning this fantastic bottle, make me an offer - who knows where it might go!
Many thanks

| Shop prices and what you will get for the whisky in a private sale or auction are 2 very different things. My guesstimate on the Macallan 1950 31 year old would be closer to £2500 |

Hi Mark
I am learning about pricing, I hope that I could get that or even a little more. Obviously a private sale would be the best option, with no commissions, but i am not entirely sure of the best places to advertise it to make the maximum impact, or, if I am going to auction, what the best house to go with is.
thanks for your advice Mark, I will learn fast here I think.

Having contacted a couple of auction houses and decided to take the plunge, I have suddenly hit a problem, that no courier companies want to take my bottle to the UK because it is liquid.
Can anyone suggest a company that can arrange this? _________________ Kind regards
