As part of the Lagavulin 200th anniversary year the distillery will be releasing a Lagavulin 8 Year Old limited edition expression in two batches during 2016, The first batch will be available from this month, with the second expected later in the year. The bottling pays tribute to Victorian whisky writer Alfred Barnard visit to Lagavulin in the 1880's
The Lagavulin 8 year old is bottled at 48% ABV, matured exclusively in re-fill American oak casks and will be priced at £50.95 for a 70cl bottle, it marks the visit of pioneering whisky journalist and traveller Barnard to Lagavulin in the late 1880s.

Cheers William, sounds interesting and a reasonable drinking price considering its a limited edition Lagavulin and bottled at 48% which is very appealing. No doubt I will have a bottle or 2.

Apart from the distillers edition and the 16 I've not had any other expressions - never fancied paying the mark up for the 12. This does seem reasonable (albeit in my opinion should be less...!)

Great news, there is a lack of expressions which come out of Lagavulin. it may be a limited edition but It sounds like there will be plenty available for those that want it and great to see a bottling strength of 48%

I will have a bottle or 2 also, I wonder if they will also do a more premium release for the 200th anniversary year.

Certainly worth a go at only a few pound more than the 16 year old, good to see it is bottled at 48%.

This does make it sound very appealing to me, I do like a young peaty Islay whisky. |

As a fan of Lagavulin, this is a positive development. Question is will it ever come to this side of the pond.

Murray my understanding is that it is a worldwide release, the info I have is that it will be available across all major markets which I would assume includes Canada. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky.
