Hi, I am quite new to the whisky scene and have taken quite an interest in it recently. I have decided I would like to invest (on a small scale) more so as a hobby than to make money. I haven't bought anything yet but was wondering if anyone could give a little advice on sort of stuff to look out for?
I know the basics, as in, limited edition/rare whisky but not really much more. Should I only buy whisky I enjoy?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

| Hi and welcome, investing in whisky is a risky thing, always buy with long term in mind, it's not a bad idea to buy whisky that you would want to drink if the " bubble " bursts, remember you will be buying whisky that is being bought by other collectors now, so be wise... Luck is always something you need, my advice is buy whisky you want to drink in the future, and it might just be worth something.. Good luck |

| It is a good idea to stick to whisky you would drink yourself. |

Yep buy whisky you would like to experience as if it all goes wrong you'll still be a great position.
Look at the distilleries, certain styles of whisky and see what captures your interest. Do you want to start with a new distillery or an established one? A new release collection such as Valhalla or single cask bottlings or closed distilleries?
Check out some of the whisky auction sites that often have blogs with interesting features and general advice. |

| Ok thanks for the advice. Can anyone recommend a good whisky tasting company near or around glasgow? |
