|
|
Hi all,
Got an email from Glenfarclas saying they are releasing a new limited edition. I'm assuming it going to be £511.19 but seems to be a NAS at 43%.
Its 150 years ago today that the Grant family bought the distillery so happy birthday Glenfarclas.
Does anyone have any other info regards this bottling as I can't find out much at the moment?
Regards,
Rob |

I got the newsletter as well. If it's NAS is rather pricy but probably will contain different older casks (similar as 175th Anniversary bottling). If they specify what went into the mix I have no problem with NAS (but for sure I have problem with this price). |

Just goes to show you how much prices have gone up, I mean 150 years ago you could get a farm and a whole distillery for £511 and 19 shillings!!

Today, you can get 2,000 pounds of quality Canadian potatoes or over 900 kilograms(metric) potatoes for the price of one bottle of this stuff. So you could feed a family of 4 fries, mash, boiled, baked, saut?ed and scalloped potatoes for at least a year. Now that's a comparison in today's world.

| Apparently when the 40 came out Mr Grant snr wanted the price to be £250 as that was the most money you could withdraw from a cash machine and has increased in line with that limit ever since. If true I like the idea. |

| I found the cashpoint limit too low, so I simply asked my bank to increase it. |

| £94.99 is the asking price and seen it's available from Stirling Whisky Shop, pre-order via phone only. Guess it will be available else where soon as well. |

| Reasonable price of £ 89.95 - it seems that they are going rather fast in most shops. |

Cheapest I've found it is £84.99, really tempted to get one. Still can't find any details on age or number of bottles though. |

If there is a difference of just few pounds, I prefer to buy such bottles from my regular supplier or B&M shops. For me this kind of relationship is rather important:
Probably we will know more about the casks later-on; Glenfarclas is usually revealing more info than others (however times are changing). |
