Help!!!!
I have inherited a few bottles of single malt whisky......I am after some idea of value but don't know where to begin.

They are alll from different Scottish distilleries, but are shown as 'specially bottled in Scotland for Arthur J A Bell The Wsky Connoisseur'

The labels are more homemade in appearance and show the distiller date - mostly mid 70's, the cask anD bottle number.......
Each has a different Scottish name - Whalligoe, Skerridhu etc

Am after some advice about how/where to get them valued....? How to sell the.....online/auction/private/retai....?

Any advice great fully received.......thanks to all in advance......

Jon

The Skerridhu is probably originally from Scapa Distillery and the other probably from Old Pulteney Distillery. If you look under the title on the Forum, Buying and Selling Whisky, you'll find generic info on auctions, selling, etc.

Arthur J A Bell was the man behind the independent bottler The Whisky Connoisseur which was based in Biggar and has no connection to the whisky giant Arthur Bell and Sons PLC.

Arthur J A Bell was the subject of a historic court case when Guinness PLC. took him to court for selling a blended whisky under his own name, after they had purchased the Arthur Bell's of Perth distillery . The Court of Session in Edinburgh upheld Arthur J A Bell's inalienable right to trade under his own name.

Arthur J A Bell The Whisky Connoisseur bottled a lot of single malt miniature whiskies as well as full sized bottles. They gave many of their bottlings there own name. The following are names of whisky that were bottled by The Whisky Connoisseur and the whisky which was in the bottle.

    Aberlogie - Macallan

    Tarracroy - Aultmore
    The Alloway - Tomatin
    The Auchtertyre - Dailuaine
The Auld Brig - Old Pulteney
    The Banks O'Doon - Dailuaine
    The Ellisland - Old Pulteney
    The Friars Carse - Dailuaine
    The Kenmore - Balmenach
    The Lincluden - Balmenach
    The Lochmaben - Tomatin
    The Tarbolton - Dalmore
    Tullichmhor - Glenlivet
    Whalligoe - Old Pulteney

The Whisky Connoisseur also had a "Cask Master Selection" which was a series of single cask bottling.

The bottles you mention Whalligoe is Old Pulteney and Skerridhu is Scapa as Quaich1 says. For a valuation and to sell them you could contact one of the whisky auctions such mctears.co.uk or scotchwhiskyauctions.com
