My girlfriend is abandoning me to go to Florida for 10 days and so to make up for it she has agreed to get me some whisky on the way back.
She's flying from Manchester Terminal 2 to Orlando so World of Whisky is out of the question as it says Terminal 1
Before I give her a list of the scotch I'd like her to keep an eye out for, is it cheaper to get it from America, or shall I wait until she gets back and can buy some from here? |

| I am not familiar with the set up at Manchester but I would guess you would pass through some sort of travel retail shop no matter which terminal you fly from. There should be a collect on your return option. |

| I'm hoping so Kava. Is it generally cheaper than buying online or from a supermarket, or is there a better / different choice? |

| It is not so much cheaper but different options.. Don't rule out getting some bourbon from America that you can not get here.. It would be a shame to miss out ! There are also some interesting new releases that are travel retail only.. Just depends on the budget .. |

| What Sorren has said. Concentrate on getting some stuff in from the US that is hard to find here. Think single barrel aged over 12 years. |

I'm only just getting to know the names of scotch single malt brands and now I've got to look for American ones!
Haha I love this hobby :D |

Yeah. I know.
But even if you don't drink it now - have it in reserve for when you fancy it.
I've got loads of bottles that I'm not 'in to' currently, but I know their availability is scarce, therefore, I'm holding them for when my mood fancies it, before it becomes prohibitively expensive.
But, also - think of it this way (on a t-shirt):
My missus went to the USA and she got me scotch. Which I can easily buy in the UK.
Unless you know what you want - give her a ton and let her go into a liquor store and grab a couple of bottles, to surprise you. Just ensure that whatever she gets reads 'Kentucky straight'. Serious. I almost guarantee that a £50 bottle of whiskey will be (in terms of quality) better than any scotch that she can grab over there in that price range. |

| If you like Ardbeg 10 World of Whiskies currently has it on offer for £46.99 for a 1 litre bottle. |

I think WoW is out as there isn't one at the terminal she leaves from
I really like the idea of the $50 bottles but I'd want it to be something you can't get over here without a bit of digging but at the same time I'd like something that is good. Cake and eat it? |

| Just a thought, if you call Manchester airport information they should be able to tell you if you will have access to whisky when passing through T2. |

| I wish I knew someone who was going to the states, I would jump on the chance to get some bourbon.. Or possibly the glenmorangie cask of dreams USA .. I'm sure Opel could put in a small list of bourbons worth getting .. I fact I would like to see his list of must get bourbons just I case 😊 |

A list would be good just to point me in the right direction. I'm trying to convince her that it should be £100 split not $100
Knowing my luck she'll probably spend it all on a handbag or shoes and I won't get any whisky! |
