Not bad, £2.50 a dram and your money back if you buy a bottle on the day.

The one I'm going to has no charge, so even better, and I'll probably walk away with a bottle too anyway.

Great evening and I must say a great Brand Ambassador. Big shout out to Lukasz Dynowiak from Inver House Distillers, nice to listen to (and speak to) and brand ambassador who doesn't just give the sales pitch and repeat the press patter, but actually has strong opinions of his own. Loads of good information about the distilleries and some really great drams; first time I've been to a tasting where all the whiskies were age-stated and the youngest was 17yo.


Few bits;

Firstly, really good to know that the entry level whiskies from each of the 3 distilleries will not be replaced (in the UK at any rate) by NAS stuff. Any new NAS stuff is going into travel retail or complimenting the current line-up - round of applause for Inver House.

Secondly, and a double edged sword, some bad news; any fans of anCnoc 16yo better stock up. It's being discontinued - something I wasn't aware of. Shame as it's a long standing and really solid dram. It will be replaced by the recently release 18yo, which is the same juice but with a secondary maturation in sherry casks for 2 years. So where the 16 was 100% bourbon cask, the 18 extends that with a bit of playing and some sherry. It's double edged because the 18yo is bloody good, so at least we're getting a quality whisky with an age, and for only an extra £10-£15.

Also, I might point out that during the tasting as well as my own drinking, I've never had a tainted sherry matured whisky from Inver House - and I'm very sensitive to sulphur. I guess they put some time into ensuring their casks are tip-top.

anCnoc 22yo
Balblair 1990 2nd release (23/24yo)
Balblair 1983 1st relerase (30/31yo)
Old Pulteney 17yo
Old Pulteney 21yo


Dram of the night for me was the '83 Balblair. The only whisky in the line-up to be 100% bourbon matured and the quality, complexity and finesse really shone through.


I doubt very much that anyone from Inver House is even aware of the forum, let alone reads it, but just in case you do: Keep it up! Sticking by your well priced, age statement whiskies, running at 46% NCF and natural colour is a true testament. It's what us geeks want and it's refreshing to see a company actually actively trying to meet the requirements from the whisky geek sector!! Thanks!
