Douglas Laing has released Yula 20 Year Old the first release in a 3 part Island blended malt trilogy.

Yula is comprised of several of the Islands' most sought after, peated malts. Yula wil be released consecutively in three limited edition batches, the first of which is bottled at 20 Years Old at a cask strength of 52.6% ABV and a limited release of only 900 bottles worldwide.

I had to double checked the strength of this, it really is extraordinarily smooth considering it has been bottled at a cask strength of 52.6% ABV. It has a lovely gentle coastal feel to it, a mature whisky but still fresh. Not an in your face amount of smoke, I am guessing the smoky stuff that has gone into Yula has been tamed somewhat over its 20 years maturing but it has married and balanced well with the other Island components in the blend. I suspect Caol Ila is making a considerable and very welcome contribution here but I may be wrong, I often am, just ask my other half. A well put together whisky and well presented as usual from the folks at DL

Cheers William, pretty much what I suspected it would be. A possibility for my list of what I will be buying for drinking over Christmas as I like to get a few new, never tried before whiskies for drinking over the holidays.
