|
Glendronach has launched 3 new whiskies:
GlenDronach Peated
The distillery has just launched its first ever peated release, simply called, GlenDronach Peated.
GlenDronach 19 Years Old Madeira Cask Finish
GlenDronach tell me that their new GlenDronach 19 Years Old Madeira Cask Finish is a dram bursting with ripe summer fruits and warm spices. Bottled at 46%, non chill filtered and with natural colour, the GlenDronach 19 Years Old Madeira Cask Finish was initially matured in European oak casks and thereafter finished its maturation in a very small batch of Madeira hogsheads.
GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 5
Completing a hat-trick of new releases from the Aberdeenshire distillery this week is the GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 5 _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

I've found the cask strength, NAS a bit too heated in the past but the Madiera finish does sound great, any idea of price? If it's reasonable (which I'd expect with glendronch) then ill definitely be picking one of those up. Peated sounds good too. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

| I've already reserved few bottles of 19yo Madeira last week. I didn't have opportunity to try it yet but I've heard good things from the people in the industry. Hope to get 3-4 bottles but will be rather difficult as there are only 500 (ca) bottles available for UK and a hundred for EU markets. |

It was quite difficult getting 19yo Madeira - I was able to secure three bottles but many unfortunately didn't receive any. |

Yes. Went
To say I'm gutted is an understatement as I did have the opportunity to buy but thought I would save postage and get it from the distillery. There is an outside chance that I will still get some - I noticed that in htfw they have some bottles @ £100. |

Just few shops were teasing with them (they had 2-3 in stock - were sold-out in minutes).
I got them for £75 but £100 for rare 19yo is still OK - probably will be soon on sale for much higher price on the secondary market. |

Much as I like Glendronach I refuse to chase elusive bottles (that goes for any distillery).
Not seen the batch 5 cask strength yet but am about a third of a bottle into the batch 4 which is an interesting one. First taste, lovely sherry and proper malt though a touch bitter on the finish. A few days s later it became almost undrinkably bitter that I thought I might not be able to finish it. I left it a couple of weeks and the bitterness has faded though there is a touch of oak on the finish which I often find with this distillery. This is certainly one that needs air and to be opened for a while. |

Air is a friend and a foe in our whisky world:
+1 regarding chasing rare bottles. |

Not yet but it's on my shopping list for my next order I a few weeks time. Sounds wonderful and very well priced and presented. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

| A quick yes on this. Very nice. However, I think the Benriach peated works better. |
