Hi all

Does this taste anything like The Laddie 10 that I can no longer get from my local Tesco?

Looks like it will be on offer on Amazon later and may try to pick up a bottle if it's similar.

I'm not fan of Bruichladdich but I had both, one after the other, earlier this year. Laddie 10 was better for my palate, where Scottish Barley had (in)famous taste of "baby vomiting"? and was clearly younger.

Ah I see. Well I certainly don't fancy the baby vommit taste. The Laddie 10 is one of my favourite whiskies. Shame it's difficult to get a hold of these days for a reasonable price.

Thanks

As I mentioned, I'm not fan of Bruichladdich (but I like their ex-wine cask expressions). Before you write off Scottish Barely completely, you better wait for feedback from others who are more familiar with Bruichladdich.

Sold out too quick for me to buy anyway.

Probably best as I've made a few purchases recently.

Thanks

"Baby vomiting" = best flavour descriptor ever! Laughing

There are many hilarious phrases describing different taste of malts. My favourite are before mentioned "baby vomit"? (overly malty character and strong smell), "French Whore Perfume or FWP"? (strong flowery and perfumy notes, predominantly smells of Lavender - associated with older Bowmore's from 80's) and "soapy character"? (unpleasant floral, musty also perfumy taste. Many believes that is coming from the distilling process when some producers were putting soap into the wash, to prevents it from boiling over).

I have never been a big Bruichladdich fan, the Laddie 10 was ok, I have read some poor reviews of the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Scottish Barley which made me stay clear of it, too many poor reviews to be wrong.

I was on a small committee asked to write the tasting notes for Ardbeg Lord of the Isles some years back. Some of our notes were used but we'd had a bit to drink by then and they decided not to run with our colour: 'smokers' finger'...

Maybe this Head To Head - Bruichladdich Scottish Barley vs The Laddie Ten from Curt's blog will be of any help in the future:
