Rare Ardbeg on the market. How many bottes were there?

Does anyone know how many bottles of this rare Ardbeg were actually produced?

The listing says that it was given to the members of the celebratory lunch and dinner and only around 200 bottles were done.

Same juice inside as the normal perpetuum, so the whisky isn't rare, but the bottle is.

Any idea how rare? Are rare bottles important to collectors? Or is it all about the whisky?

Well.....only 200 bottles. The normal run of the perpetuum would have been in the 1000s and is still consider 'limited' and will be saught by collectors. So a signed bottle will be worth more.

Collectors value the entire package. They're well known to collect rare stuff even if the whisky is sh1te, but if the whisky is better then all the better.

Not sure how much these went for, it seems to suggest they were given. I'd suggest most of he margin will have already been made by the first person to sell it, so with a reserve at £400 you'd have to keep it for a long time to see any increase. It's a funny game and there may always be someone who wants it so, and it's got all the right stuff for a good collectable.

Your money at the end of the day. I don't collect or invest in whisky, I drink it, so I wouldn't consider it at all. But thats me.

Thanks for the very useful point of view. I tend to agree. I do sell the odd bottle to help with other drinking, especially if I have more than one of them. But then again, it depends what it is.
