To highlight the importance of wood in the creation of Scotch Single Malt Whisky independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail has recently launched a campaign to inform whisky drinkers both new and old about the importance of wood and the huge influence it can have on the flavour profile of a whisky even a brand of whisky you think your are 100% familiar with.

To demonstrate Gordon & MacPhail's philosophy of "The Wood Makes the Whisky' I have reviewed four single malt whiskies from Gordon & MacPhail's whisky Collections: Connoisseurs Choice, The MacPhail's Collection and Rare Vintage, which demonstrate their philosophy of "The Wood Makes The Whisky".

The Bunnahabhain 8 year old sounds good, so does the Glen Grant 1954 but the Bunna is more in my budget.

William, the G&M GG 1954 sounds wonderful based on your review and taste notes. Over 50 years in the cask; quite an achievement when it turns out like this one.
Very Happy

I am a big fan of G & M, they do offer some good stuff and price things appropriately where some other indie bottlers have gotten greedy. I would love to try that Glen Grant 1954 but I don't think the wife would talk to me if I blew £1200 on a bottle at the moment.

Ditto - G&M have never let me down, so I may just garb some of the Bunnahabhain as I have been hankering for one recently...
