What special drams are you all planning on having over the holiday period, Christmas to New Years to celebrate from your whisky cupboard?
The key single malts on my list that I plan to drink are:
Bowmore Devil's Casks 10 Year First Edition
Bowmore Devil's Casks III Double the Devil
and the last of my samples of:
Tamnavulin 45 Year
Tomatin 30 Year
Dalwhinnie 25 Year
and the highly regarded Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye as a fine example of Canadian whisky. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

I'm still undecided, but I fancy opening:
Cambletown Loch 21
Ben Bracken 28
Bunnahabhain 8 G&M
I already have some Glendronach's open 15/18/Madeira/Sauternes which I've got waiting for further service.
Got a couple of vintage ports that need my attention, together with a 40 year tawny.
Add to that two different 40 year old Armagnacs, I think Xmas and New Years will be a merry one indeed!
But, still some time to go, I may decide to be boring (plus it depends what Santa may bring!!!) |

| Some interesting choices, I expect I will be sipping on Glenfarclas, Auchentoshan and I'm sure a little Balvenie.. I have saved a few drams of the 1979 Auchentoshan and the 40Glenfarclas but I'm sure once the guests come round I'll hide that and bring out the Teachers and Grants.. 😬👏👏 OK only kidding I'm sure I can find something cheaper, after all it is Christmas 😂😂😂 |

I'll be popping open most of my recent order, but looking forward to the Glencadam 17yo triple cask portwood - recently picking up a master (highest accolade) at the 2015 Scotch Whiskies Masters awards.
Also looking forward to opening one of my Caroni single cask pot still rums. For those that don't know, Caroni is essentially the Port Ellen of rum; closed in 2002 and produced a very unique style of rum, almost phenolic.
Other than that, got a bottle of 30 year old Tawy port that I'll be supping with a large jar of potted Stilton and a box full of crackers, should see me through a few days _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I'm intending to crack open my SMWS starter pack for the festive season, even though it consists of a somewhat predictable set of distillery offerings (Glen Grant, Arran and Caol Ila). Also on the cards are:
Banff 1978 Signatory Vintage 18yo
Highland Park 25yo
Kilchoman Winter 2010 Release
Inverleven 1979 |

I'm not sure whether to leave Santa a selection of Glendronach miniatures, or a Glenfarclas - 103 proof 15 or the 25 year old...
Also I'll be sampling the Talisker and Oban distiller's editions, along with any other random picks from the shelf. I've got a Warre's Otima 20 year port to go with some cheese, and Blanton's Gold for any other occasions. Just wishing I hadn't agreed to be on call for Boxing Day and New Year's Eve now |

For the evening I've just prepared (caps on Glencairn glasses):
- Linkwood 1989, 26yo (Cadenhead's Small Batch)
- Blair Athol 1989, 23yo (Signatory)
- Ben Nevis 1998, 15yo, cask #596 (OB)
No new open malt bottles for now - maybe will have some for NY eve:
With friends and some business partners we opened (among other things) a rather nice bottle of Armagnac Saint Christeau 1973.
: and there is always prepared a bottle of Cognac XO Courvoisier for village idiots. |

Just got given a bottle of tullibardine sovereign.
Any tasting notes or recommend it?
And an "ancient mariner" 50cl. Never heard of it before. |
