Happy New Year to you all, this is my 1st post of 2016.

Amongst a number of single Malts received for Christmas, was my first bottle of Whisky from The English Whisky Company (hereafter TEWC).

It is a Ltd edit Chapter 15, heavily pleated, uncoloured and non chill filtered.

I have to say I am very pleasantly suprised and so I went on to their website and can see they do a number of Whisky's.

Have any of you got any preferences from TEWC?

How do you feel their Whisky's stand up to the more traditional Scottish Distilleries?

Yep, great stuff.

The chapter 13 is very good, matured in sweet Italian desert red wine casks. It was my personal whisky of the year last year.

Their stuff is young but I get the feeling that the quality of the spirit is very good and they've got themselves some cracking casks.

Chapter 7 & 13 are fantastic. The 'unchaptered' version (I.e the one you can get from Morrisons and M&S) are to be avoided. Great distillery and one of the best tours and tasting sessions I have been to. Compared to some Scottish distilleries, excellent value for money for the world tasting tour (£30 for the tour, 6 drams). I even got half a bottle for free that was leftover from our session!
