Storage of whisky

I don't have a huge collection of whisky but I don't have a huge amount of storage space for it either.

I have very limited space for upright storage but a lot more for laying it on its side. Are there any issues with doing this?

I've read that the corks of old bottles can effect the whisky but are modern corks safe enough.

Due to its high 40%+ alcohol content, whisky will react negatively with the cork and the spirit can become tainted. I would never lay a corked whisky bottle on its side for storage.

As Murray said.. My advice is drink it faster .. But please don't lay it down ..
