| I don`t remember exactly how I got it but I have a Bottle of Rosebank 12 Year old. I am in the process of clearing out my old flat for selling it and came across it. I have brought it home with me and wondered if it would be worth much or if I should just crack it open. |

Yeah Rosebank closed in the early 90's and their bottles are collectable, especially the Flora and Fauna bottles. The action price on that link is about right to be honest, your looking at over 100 notes, probably around 150-180 now. If you sold via auction you'd have to pay around 20% of the sale price in fees though.
Personally, it's a bit of history, so I'd drink it. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I think the wooden 'coffin' boxes are especially collectible (they are for other F&F releases) and may be worth as much as the contents in the bottle.
Drink the whisky and sell the box! |

| If it a official bottling then it is going to go up in price, if it is the f+f series it will go up in price, if you have the box too it is going to go up in price.. Now it is your choice what to do.. |

A wise decision in my opinion and consistent with my first thought on the matter.

Bear in mind that the price doesn't reflect the quality or the complexity of the whisky, it's a 12 year old and when it was openly available it wasn't expensive. The price reflects the now rare nature of the whisky and how collectable it is.
It's not "worth" more than your palate, it's merely worth what you paid for it and lets say that was around £30 or so. If you drink it then you're drinking a £30 whisky. It's only worth more if you sell it to someone who values it at a higher price.....the value of the whisky inside (in terms of experience and quality) is still the same as it was when you bought it

| Good point opelfruit. Its a £30 bottle, not great tasting just rare. Maybe when they open the new Falkirk distillery I will crack it open.... |

So tight fisted I am contemplating going and buying the 5 bottles of Glenmorangie Midwinters dram from the supermarket and punting them for the £60 they seem to be selling for. |
