Anybody know the best way to do it? Iv had a few bottles where Iv really liked the label and want to keep them and frame or something. Iv tried before on a bottle of Bunnahabhain 12 and it was a disaster. Tried the hot water and fairy liquid trick.

Bit random - have you tried melting the glue in a microwave for 30sec? I find a long soak usually sorts it. Maybe add a dishwasher tablet to the water.

Try hot water inside bottle, melts the glue.. But I'm not a fan of removing labels, too many fall into wrong hands

Try leave the bottle filling from a hot tap as sorren suggests, if that doest work leave the water overflowing for a few minutes sometimes the label then peels off easily, doesn't always work but worth a try.

I've tried a few things in the past, never had much success. The best results for me have came when I've set the bottle into a dish, pan or whatever of hot water for 15 minutes or so and then eased the label off the bottle.
Of course this method isn't fool proof, but if you fail then another bottle needs to be bought and drank!! win win in my world! happy days _________________ Slainte

You have to remember every bottle I'd different, some will peel and some will not, just because it didn't work on one does not mean it won't on another, probably different glues and label types.. A friend of mine takes all labels off by using hot / boiling water inside bottle, some bottles need lying down in a bowl of hot water for a few mins but they do come off eventually..

I used to take off the labels of bottles that I had finished drinking
some come off easily in hot water sometimes a few times in hot water does the trick some don't come off easily at all
the only problem with this is its easy to fakes bottles
didn't loch fine whiskies have some kind of system ?

Some labels are a sprayed on ceramic like paint and will not come off in one piece. I was more interested in a bottle than the label and the best advice I could find in that case was to use acid. |
