Have any of you guys used this? It seems to be a mix of Nitrogen and Argon and most people rave about it preserving their liquors.

The main purpose I would use it is to try and stay off oxidation on my more expensive Scotch's like my Macallan 21 thats already half empty. (Yes I know I can decant it, but part of the "fun" is having it in the bottle!). It seems like the products main detractors complaion about price, but for expensive scotchs this is definitely not an issue...

My main concern is whether this gas will somehow taint the taste of the whisky in the long term.

Anyone have any long term experience with this stuff?

I don't use it, or any other variant of inert gas, based purely on the fact that I don't ever have this problem Laughing

I do have it on very good authority that it's very good. I'd even go as far to say that I've been told by a few people that they "swear by it".

Reviews do seem to be good on the Private Preserve. It doesn't appear to be expensive but I think I would try it out on a cheaper whisky first.

If it is for long term storage, have you considered decanting into a smaller bottle for the term and then pouring back into the original bottle when you want to drink it again.

Nitrogen and Argon are both inert and I think they would have a very low level of solubility into water/ethanol mix. So I think it is very unlikely they will affect the taste but definitely look into it a bit more!
